The Grand Forks and Grand Forks Air Force Base School Districts work together in a unique arrangement to serve the 7,200 students who attend schools in the two communities. Eleven hundred people are employed including 700 teachers and 400 support and administrative staff. Two grades 9-12 high schools, an alternative high school, four grades 6-8 middle schools, 12 twelve elementary schools, and one Head Start Program comprise the arrangement of the schools.
The schools of the two districts expect and receive strong performance from the students. This is possible because of a rich curriculum design led by highly qualified teachers - 65% of them have Master degrees and beyond. Parent and community support is strong and very instrumental in the success of the schools.
Emphasis is given to class size, curriculum, staff qualifications, and student achievement. The result is 96%+ average daily attendance, well-behaved students, safe comfortable schools, and academic results that exceed those of the state and nation.
The district is organized into four schools: New Heights, which is a kindergarten through second grade school: South Point, which is a third grade through fifth grade school; Central Middle School which houses the sixth through eighth grades, and the Senior High School for grades nine thorough twelve.
At the elementary level, the East Grand Forks School District has made every effort to maintain effective class sizes for optional learning. Kindergarten students participate in a full day, every day program. All students participate in physical education music, and computer literacy programs taught by licensed specialists.
Central Middle School emphasizes the development of the whole child and includes a wide variety of exploratory experiences to develop mature interest, academic capabilities and athletic skills. The middle school curriculum features the highly recognized Red River of the North program for the past, present and future.
The Senior High School offers a comprehensive curriculum, which includes instruction in two foreign languages, a host of vocational classes, and several courses offered for high school and full college credit, in addition to what is regarded as a traditional secondary curriculum.
The school district offers a wide variety of extra-curricular options including drama, speech, music, athletics, and many other individual and group activities.
We are constantly striving to improve the quality of our service, by responding to your needs and anticipating future objectives. District patrons should feel free to visit anytime, or call your child's school if you have questions ideas, or concerns.
